Description

The AA118 is a germanium signal and switching diode made in Romania by IPRS Băneasa, listed in the Agenda radioelectronistului (2nd edition, 1989) with a peak reverse voltage VRM of 100 V [1]. The package drawing is in the Gallery.

The code is printed „AA 118”. The table gives: peak reverse voltage VRM 100 V, average forward current IFAV 20 mA, forward voltage VF 1.5 V at IF = 5 mA; its rings are black–orange („negru-portocaliu”), read from the cathode to the anode [1].

Coded as (Pro Electron system) [2]:

Part Meaning
A base material with an activation energy of 0.6–1 eV, e.g. germanium (0.67 eV)
A low-power signal diode
118 serial number: three digits (100–999), for components for general use
