TBA810S

The TBA810S is a monolithic integrated audio power amplifier (class B, up to 7 W) made by IPRS Băneasa [1].

The I.P.R.S. Băneasa Full Line Condensed Catalog (1990) lists the TBA810AS and TBA810S, marked with „$” (the catalog’s sign for preliminary data, not explained on these pages), as monolithic integrated power amplifiers designed for class B audio amplification with up to 7 W of output power, in a 12-lead quad in-line plastic package; the TBA810S can use a part of the printed circuit board as heatsink, while the cooling tabs of the TBA810AS are flat and pierced, so that an external heatsink can easily be attached; few external components are needed [1].

The catalog gives an operating temperature of 0…+70 °C (storage −25…+125 °C), a junction temperature of at most +150 °C, a supply voltage of 4…20 V, repetitive and non-repetitive peak output currents of at most 2.5 A and 3.5 A, a typical open loop voltage gain of 80 dB, a typical output power of 7 W (16 V, 4 Ω) and internal thermal protection (TJ = 150 °C) [1]. At VCC = 14.4 V, RL = 4 Ω, Rf = 56 Ω and TA = +25 °C the typical values are 7.2 V quiescent output voltage, 12 mA quiescent current, 6 W output power (THD = 10 %), 34…40 dB closed loop voltage gain, 0.3 % THD (Po = 50 mW…3 W), 2 µV input noise and 38 dB supply voltage rejection [1]. The junction-to-tab thermal resistance is at most 12 °C/W (TBA810S) and 10 °C/W (TBA810AS), and the junction-to-ambient one at most 70 °C/W (TBA810S, with the tabs soldered to a printed circuit board with minimised copper area) and 80 °C/W (TBA810AS) [1].
