Description

The RS-76344 is an electronic petrol economiser with an optical indicator, made by Electromagnetica in Bucharest [1].

The Agenda radioelectronistului (2nd edition, 1989) lists the „RS-76344” electronic petrol economiser with an optical indicator („Economizor electronic de benzină cu indicator optic”, Întreprinderea Electromagnetica, Bucharest) among the electronic devices for cars [1]. It says that it reduces petrol consumption, the unburnt gases released into the air and engine wear (by reducing carbon deposits in forced idling); that it can be fitted to any vehicle with a spark-ignition engine that has an electromagnetic valve on the carburettor (for example the OLTCIT, LADA 1500 and ŠKODA 105 and 120) and an electrical system with the negative to earth – where the valve is missing, as on the DACIA 1300, it must be fitted on the idling circuit of the carburettor; and that it works when the engine is in forced idling (driven by the vehicle’s inertia), cutting petrol consumption by up to about 20 %, especially in town or in mountain areas [1].
