Description

The Automatic ambiental I.C. handler is an equipment that feeds integrated circuits to a test socket and sorts them, for IC manufacturers as well as for the incoming inspection of IC users, made by IPRS Băneasa [1].

The I.P.R.S. Băneasa Full Line Condensed Catalog (1990) gives dimensions of 900 × 500 × 1200 mm, a weight of 175 kg, a power supply of 220 V / 50–60 Hz, 250 VA, one test station with a ZIF (zero insertion force) test socket, a throughput (at zero testing time) of 7200 pcs/hr, at most 5 + 1 bins (1 bin for geometric faults), and 8-, 14- and 16-pin DIP packages, 0.3 in. wide [1]. The input is fed from 1 turret with 10 sleeves, and the output goes to 5 turrets (1 per bin) of 10 sleeves each; in the sorting mode, 16 programmable classes are available for the first 4 bins, while the fifth bin is hard programmed for classes zero and 8 to 0F (hex); it is actuated by step-by-step motors [1]. The interfacing follows the user’s requirements, in positive or negative logic, on an 8-wire bus: 4 data bits plus 2 control bits plus the power supply [1]. Its drawing, with the test clip (contactor), sleeve feeder, carrier and sorter chute, metallic frame, output sleeve holder, command panel and programming panel numbered, is in the Gallery [1].
