Description
The BB 139 is a hyperabrupt varicap diode made by IPRS Băneasa under a licence from Intermetall of Freiburg (ITT group), bought in 1970 together with the production equipment, including an automatic diode sorter [1]. The licence needed the approval of the COCOM embargo committee [1]. Its capacitance ratio of more than 6 made possible varicap channel selectors for the OIRT standard, whose first six TV channels lie in the 48–100 MHz band [1].
