Description

The RCG and RMG are type II film resistors with axial leads, RCG with a carbon film and RMG with a nickel film, made to STAS 7668-78 for general use [1][3]. The Agenda radioelectronistului (2nd edition, 1989) gives them in one table of 13 rows, in four sizes (codes 1025, 1050, 1100 and 1200): RMG from 1 to 330 Ω and RCG from 330 Ω to 10 MΩ, in the E6, E12, E24 and E48 series, with limit voltages of 250–700 V [1].

The Agenda radioelectronistului names IPEE Electro-Argeș of Curtea de Argeș as the producer of all the resistors in its section on resistors made in Romania, in both editions [3][4]. Un secol de electronică în România says that the works, founded in 1972 as ICEP, took over the resistor lines that IPRS Băneasa made under a Thomson-CSF licence: the carbon resistors in 1973 and the wire-wound resistors in 1974 [5].

Coded as [3]:

Part Meaning
RCG construction type: general-use resistor with a carbon film („rezistor de uz general cu peliculă din carbon”)
RMG construction type: general-use resistor with a nickel film („… cu peliculă din nichel”)
1 package type („tipul capsulei”, 1…6)
025, 050, 100, 200 rated power: 0.25, 0.5, 1 and 2 W („puterea disipată nominală”)

The book’s example of the code is „RCG 1 050 (…)”; the bracket stands for the constructive variant [3]. Romanian resistors are generally marked in clear, with the series code, the nominal value (100 = 100 Ω, 1 K = 1 kΩ, 1 M = 1 MΩ), the tolerance [3].

The 1st edition (1983) has the same table without the RCG-1050 row for 1…10 MΩ (5/10/20 %, E24, 500 V) [2][1]. It gives the temperature coefficient as positive for RMG and negative for RCG; the 2nd edition prints „> 0” for both [2][1].

Value series in the table: the highest standard series of each row („seria normalizată maximă”). Dimensions in mm (fig. 16.2): maximum diameter Dmax, maximum length Lmax and lead diameter d from the table; leads at least 30 mm long [1].
