Description

The RPM 3000 is a series of metal-film resistors with radial leads, made to STAS 3799-75 for professional electronic circuits, where high precision and stability are needed together with a low temperature coefficient [1]. The Agenda radioelectronistului (2nd edition, 1989) lists four codes, RPM-3012 to RPM-3100, from 10 Ω to 2 MΩ, with tolerances from ±0.25 % and limit voltages of 125–500 V, in the series up to E192 [1].

The Agenda radioelectronistului names IPEE Electro-Argeș of Curtea de Argeș as the producer of all the resistors in its section on resistors made in Romania, in both editions [3][4]. Un secol de electronică în România says that the works, founded in 1972 as ICEP, took over the resistor lines that IPRS Băneasa made under a Thomson-CSF licence: the carbon resistors in 1973 and the wire-wound resistors in 1974 [5].

Coded as [3]:

Part Meaning
RPM construction type: metal-film resistor („rezistor cu peliculă metalică”)
3 package type („tipul capsulei”, 1…6)
012, 025, 050, 100 rated power: 0.125, 0.25, 0.5 and 1 W

The temperature coefficient is given by a letter: a = ±50, b = ±100, c = ±200·10⁻⁶/°C [1]. Romanian resistors are generally marked in clear, with the series code, the nominal value (100 = 100 Ω, 1 K = 1 kΩ, 1 M = 1 MΩ), the tolerance [3].

The 1st edition (1983) calls the series RPM and gives the temperature coefficients as ±50, ±100 and ±150·10⁻⁶/°C, without letters; its table is the same [2].

Dimensions in mm (fig. 16.4): maximum width Lmax, maximum height Dmax and lead spacing d (± 0.05) from the table; thickness at most 2.54, leads Ø 0.64 and 5…10 long [1].
