History

Conect (Întreprinderea de Elemente de Comutare și Întrerupătoare, the Enterprise for Switching Elements and Switches) produced connectors, switches and related components, among others for the Romanian computer industry [1].

It started production in 1972 inside Uzinele Electronica. When it moved into its own premises in 1974 it took over the specialist staff, being based on Electronica’s die-making (matrițerie) section [1].

The site after 1989

Around 2011 its administrative building, with a new building added behind it, had become a business centre [3].

In 1989

In 1989 Conect belonged to the Industrial Central for Electronics and Computer Technology (CIETC) of the Ministry of the Electrotechnical Industry [2].
