History
Electromureș in Târgu Mureș was one of the three Romanian radio receiver manufacturers, alongside Electronica and Tehnoton; together they made more than 15 million radio receivers [1]. It was also known for its cassette players and audio equipment [2].
Electronics, 1984–1989
Electromureș grew out of the Ciocanul cooperative, founded in 1949 [4]. From 1984 its electronics range included the AS 15200 series of stereo power amplifiers (2 × 6, 2 × 15, 2 × 40 and 2 × 150 W, e.g. the AS 15201), the EM 2001 stereo cassette deck, the Delia tuner-amplifier made under a Unitra licence, the Corina car radio-cassette player, and photocopiers and printers [4]. In 1989 it had more than 8,900 employees in its electrical (household appliances) and electronic sectors together [4]. In 1998 the Italian firm TRI O.M SpA di Cambiano bought the majority stake; in 2006 the company had 300 employees [4].
In 2025 the brand was relaunched by ZASS România with retro-style radios, portable cassette players, Bluetooth speakers and turntables, made in China [2].
In 1989
In 1989 Electromureș belonged to the Industrial Central for Electrotechnics (CIE) in Craiova, part of the Ministry of the Electrotechnical Industry. Its entry lists separate telephone lines for electronics and cables and for computing machines [3].
