Description

The F-3020 is a 12-channel analogue military multiplex trunk system, made by Electromagnetica in Bucharest [1]. It was designed by ICSITA with the Special Production Factory, as a long-distance communication trunk [1][2].

Known as the ‘heavy-cable trunk’, it comprised 12-channel terminal stations (F-3020 SF), attended and unattended repeater stations (F-3020 SAD, F-3020 SAN), a three-channel branching unit (F-3020 ER) and a portable test set (F-3020 EPCM); a trunk could be up to 1,000 km long, in sections of 400 and 200 km, each 400 km needing two terminal stations, 7 attended and 32 unattended repeaters, with 10–12 km between repeaters [3]. All its units were accepted by the Warsaw Pact armies, and it was tested with very good results by the Signal Training Centre [3][4].
