Description

The POP-2 is a speaker enclosure made by Electronica in Bucharest [1]. It is a two-way Hi-Fi enclosure for rooms of up to 40 m², with a filter that splits the signal between the loudspeakers, suppresses the tweeter resonance and evens out the impedance and response [1].

From 1955 all Romanian radios and television sets had loudspeakers made in Romania, at Radio Popular and then Electronica; more than 20 million were made [1]. In 1989 the works could make, to order, 18 types of circular loudspeakers (from 0.2 W subminiature types to 10 W), 11 elliptical types, 28 types for outdoor use (megaphones, loudhailers, horn loudspeakers), 6 types of speaker enclosures, 2 types of headphones and 6 types of sonospheres [1]. Membrane technology was much improved after a Philips licence was bought in 1968 [1].
