Description
The R2501 is a unified LW, MW, short-wave and VHF communications and surveillance receiver, made in the microproduction workshop of the ICE research institute in Bucharest, where it was designed [1]. It was developed under a contract with IEI; work stopped in 1990 at the laboratory-model stage [1]. Work began in 1987, for a receiver covering 1.5–80 MHz, and the army asked for it to be stopped in 1990 [2].
ICE’s short-wave professional radio communications laboratory took over in 1966 the staff and work of Electronica in this field; it designed radio stations, first-class receivers and accessories such as antennas and relays, mainly for the army, with civilian versions for the oil and forestry industries, building sites and agriculture; they were made at IEMI and IEI [1].
