Description

The CAX 12.00, CBX 12.00 and CCX 12.00 are series of type II high-voltage ceramic disc capacitors with radial leads, rated 1, 2 and 3 kV DC, for general-purpose circuits [1]. The Agenda radioelectronistului (2nd edition, 1989) gives them with a W version of each (CAW, CBW, CCW): −20…+80 % and a capacitance change of −70…+30 % from −40 to +85 °C, and for W ±20 % and −55…+20 %; nine rows, 100–3300 pF [1].

The Agenda does not say which works made the series: for the whole section on capacitors made in Romania it lists IPEE Electroargeș of Curtea de Argeș, Tehnoton of Iași, IIS Electronica of Bucharest and IPRS Băneasa as producers, and the 1st edition (1983) names only the first three [3][4]. It is listed here as made by IPRS Băneasa; Un secol de electronică în România says that the ceramic capacitor line of IPRS passed to IPEE Curtea de Argeș in 1973 [5].

Coded as [3]:

Part Meaning
CAX construction type: as CLX (undefined temperature coefficient), for a rated voltage of 1 kV
COX the same, 2 kV (printed so in the code list of both editions; the series table uses CBX)
CCX the same, 3 kV
12 technological family („familia tehnologică”)
06…11 package code („codul capsulei”)

The W letter is not in the code list [3].

Marked in clear, the code is followed by the nominal capacitance and the tolerance; the book’s example is „CGA 12.06 — 4,7 ± 0,5” (4.7 pF, tolerance 0.5 pF or %) [3].

The 1st edition (1983) has only the X series (CAX, CBX, CCX), with STAS 9507-74, other ranges and lead spacings; the W versions and CAW 12.06 are new in the 2nd edition [2][1]. The 2nd edition prints the heading „CCX(W, 12 00 (fig. 20 56)” [1].

Rated voltages are DC („kVcc”). Dimensions in mm (fig. 20.56): diameter Ø and lead spacing d from the table; thickness max. 3; leads Ø 0.6, at least 30 mm long [1].
