Description
The CV 581 is an air-dielectric variable capacitor for radio receivers, put into production in 1958 at Radio Popular in Bucharest, the factory that became Electronica in 1960 [1]. A smaller type with a built-in reduction drive was made at the same time, the CV 591 [1].
In the same period the Opereta S 572 A, the first Romanian-designed radio receiver, was built with the variable capacitors and dual potentiometers made for the first time in Romania [1]. Before 1958 the factory assembled its radios mostly from imported kits; from the mid-1950s it gradually replaced imported parts with its own: loudspeakers (1954), ceramic magnets (1956), potentiometers (1957), variable capacitors (1958), transformers, RF blocks and piano-key waveband switches [1].
