Description

The EG 52.00 is a series of miniature aluminium electrolytic capacitors in a cylindrical case with axial leads, made to STAS 7675-73 for coupling and decoupling [1]. The Agenda radioelectronistului (2nd edition, 1989) lists 17 package codes, EG 52.43 to EG 52.63, with 1–2200 µF at 4–100 V and the maximum ripple current I0 of each value; it adds that the series also exists in a non-polarised version, with the same codes [1].

The Agenda does not say which works made the series: for the whole section on capacitors made in Romania it lists IPEE Electroargeș of Curtea de Argeș, Tehnoton of Iași, IIS Electronica of Bucharest and IPRS Băneasa as producers, and the 1st edition (1983) names only the first three [3][4]. It is listed here as made by IPRS Băneasa; Un secol de electronică în România says that IPRS made seven types of electrolytic capacitors, from 1 µF to 10,000 µF and from 3 V to 450 V [5].

Coded as [3]:

Part Meaning
EG construction type: electrolytic capacitor (of high capacitance)
52 technological family („familia tehnologică”)
43…63 package code („codul capsulei”)

The capacitors are marked in clear; the book’s example is a capacitor of this series, „EG 52.43—22/16” gives the code, the nominal capacitance (22 µF) and the rated voltage (16 V) [3].

The 1st edition (1983) has the same table, without the line about the non-polarised version [1][2]. Several ripple-current cells are smudged in the 2nd edition (EG 52.57, 52.58, 52.60, 52.62) and are read with the 1st; for EG 52.60 at 4 V the 2nd edition seems to print 800 mA, the 1st edition clearly 300 mA [1][2]. The 2nd edition heads the code column „Ced” [1].

Rated voltages are DC („Vcc”). Dimensions in mm (fig. 20.34): D ± 0.5, L ± 0.5 and the distance R between the bent leads from the table; leads Ø 0.8, 38…52 and 33…38 mm long [1].
