Description

The EG 76.00 is a series of high-capacitance aluminium electrolytic capacitors in a cylindrical can with two solder lugs, with a plain base or an M9 threaded stud, made to STAS 7675-73 for filtering in low-voltage rectifiers [1]. The Agenda radioelectronistului (2nd edition, 1989) lists five package codes, EG 76.91 to EG 76.95, with 1500–10000 µF at 16–150 V; it gives the maximum ripple current in amperes (here in mA) [1].

The Agenda does not say which works made the series: for the whole section on capacitors made in Romania it lists IPEE Electroargeș of Curtea de Argeș, Tehnoton of Iași, IIS Electronica of Bucharest and IPRS Băneasa as producers, and the 1st edition (1983) names only the first three [3][4]. It is listed here as made by IPRS Băneasa; Un secol de electronică în România says that IPRS made seven types of electrolytic capacitors, from 1 µF to 10,000 µF and from 3 V to 450 V [5].

Coded as [3]:

Part Meaning
EG construction type: electrolytic capacitor (of high capacitance)
76 technological family („familia tehnologică”)
91…95 package code („codul capsulei”)

The capacitors are marked in clear; the book’s example „EG 52.43—22/16” gives the code, the nominal capacitance (22 µF) and the rated voltage (16 V) [3].

For EG 76.92 the 2nd edition prints five ratings but only four ripple currents, „2,6; 2,2; 1,5; 1” A, and the 1st edition five, „2; 2; 26; 1,5; 1” A; since it is not clear which value belongs to which rating, the table of this page leaves them out [1][2]. The 1500 µF rating of EG 76.92 is printed at 150 V in both editions [1][2]. For EG 76.93 at 25 V the 1st edition gives 2.2 A (2nd edition: 2.3 A), and its leakage-current formula reads „0,0 CnUn” [2].

Rated voltages are DC („Vcc”). Dimensions in mm (fig. 20.38): diameter D (+1) and maximum length L from the table; the lugs, d apart, project at most 12 mm; the stud, M9, is c = 8 mm long (12 mm for EG 76.95) [1].
