Description
The PS 16.00 is a series of polystyrene capacitors with an extended temperature range (−40 to +85 °C), in a rectangular case with two radial leads, made to STAS 9067-71 [1]. The Agenda radioelectronistului (2nd edition, 1989) lists two package codes, PS 16.01 (47–560 pF) and PS 16.02 (561–2000 pF), both at 160 V with a category voltage of 140 V [1].
The Agenda does not say which works made the series: for the whole section on capacitors made in Romania it lists IPEE Electroargeș of Curtea de Argeș, Tehnoton of Iași, IIS Electronica of Bucharest and IPRS Băneasa as producers, and the 1st edition (1983) names only the first three [3][4]. It is listed here as made by IPRS Băneasa; Un secol de electronică în România says that the polystyrene capacitor line of IPRS passed to IPEE Curtea de Argeș in 1980 [5].
Coded as [3]:
| Part | Meaning |
|---|---|
| PS | construction type (structure, dielectric, terminals): PS (PSC) – polystyrene capacitor with axial leads (or leads for printed-circuit mounting) |
| 16 | technological family („familia tehnologică”) |
| 01, 02 | package code („codul capsulei”) |
The section of the series has no marking paragraph; by the code of subsection 2.1 the rated voltage of polystyrene capacitors is marked by a colour on the end next to the lead connected to the outer electrode (25 V blue, 63 V yellow, 160 V red, 250 V green, 630 V black, 1000 V black and in clear) [3].
The 1st edition (1983) has the same table; its drawing gives the minimum lead length as 20 mm (2nd edition: 30 mm) [1][2]. The 2nd edition prints the tolerances of the drawing without the comma („±05”, „ø08”) [1].
Rated voltages are DC („Vcc”). Dimensions in mm (fig. 20.29): length A, width B, height H and lead spacing R, each ± 0.5; leads Ø 0.8, at least 30 mm long [1].
