Description

The P 22846 is a 10 VA wide-range circular power loudspeaker made by Electronica in Bucharest [1]. The P 22486 has the same size but works only up to 3000 Hz [1]. All Electronica power loudspeakers of 6–10 VA have ferrite magnets and were meant for speaker enclosures and public address [1].

From 1955 the loudspeakers of all Romanian radios and television sets were made in Bucharest, first at Radio Popular and then at Electronica – more than 20 million in all [1]. In 1955 there was a single type, a 130 mm circular loudspeaker of 2.5 VA; by 1989 the range had 18 circular, 11 elliptical and 28 outdoor types [1]. The early Alnico and Ticonal magnets were later replaced by ferrite magnets, made first at Electronica and then at Ferite Urziceni, and membrane technology improved after a Philips licence was bought in 1968 [1].
