Description
The ACX-09 is a controlled microwave attenuator for military and civilian use, made in the microproduction workshop of the ICE research institute in Bucharest, where it was designed [1].
ICE’s microwave laboratory (1979–1990) began with a METEOSAT weather-satellite ground station exported to North Korea, and developed microwave components made in ICE’s microproduction workshop [1].
Its prospectus describes an electrically controlled reciprocal ferrite attenuator of the absorbing type, using the gyromagnetic properties of a longitudinally magnetised ferrite; a special version changed its insertion loss at 20 dB/µs, and it served in civilian and military microwave equipment [2].
