Description

The P rotary carbon-film potentiometers are the type II rotary potentiometers with a carbon film listed in the Agenda radioelectronistului (2nd edition, 1989), made to STAS 9614/2-74 for general use [1]. Its table gives 23 types – single, with a switch, tandem, double, with a commutator – from P-32721 to P-32821, linear (100 Ω to 5 MΩ) and logarithmic (1 kΩ to 1 MΩ), rated 0.25 or 0.1 W, with shaft lengths from 12 to 80 mm [1].

The Agenda radioelectronistului names IPEE Electro-Argeș of Curtea de Argeș and IIS Electronica of Bucharest as the producers of the potentiometers in its section on potentiometers made in Romania, in both editions, without saying which works made which type; they are listed here under Electronica [3][4]. Electronica românească. O istorie trăită, vol. I, says that Electronica imported in 1969 a production line for film potentiometers from Siemens (West Germany), and that it made single potentiometers with or without a mains switch, tandem and push-button potentiometers, defined by its internal norm NID 2195-67 [5].

The book does not explain the codes [1]. The letters after a code (—, A, B…) are versions with other dimensions p or without a mounting device or switch, as the table says [1].

The 1st edition (1983) has the same table, except that it gives the type with a commutator as P-32726 (the 2nd edition prints P-32727 for it and for the type with switch and commutator) and a tandem tracking of ≤ 4 dB for P-34649 (2nd edition: ≤ 1 dB) [2][1].

Resistance in the E6 series; lin = linear, log = logarithmic law. Rated power and limit voltage: the first value for the linear, the second for the logarithmic law. Dimensions in mm: shaft length L from the table; the other dimensions are in the drawings (fig. 17.1 a…z) [1].
