Description

The ECAROM 800 is a process control computer developed by the automation institute IPA in 1976–1980; more than 300 systems were delivered, 23 of them to the OLTCIT car factory in Craiova, and some were exported to China and Pakistan [1]. FEA developed the ECAROM series with IPA once microprocessors appeared, after the Felix C32P; at OLTCIT the ECAROM equipment formed „level 0” of the production control system, built in cooperation with the French firm CERCI [1]. After 1990 the ECAROM equipment was gradually replaced by imported programmable logic controllers and its production ended [1].
