Description

The UNILOG is a telecontrol (remote control) system developed in the 1960s–1970s by Electromagnetica with the IPA automation design institute and the ICPE electrotechnical research institute, first for oil fields and then for the steel industry and other processes, together with the UNIDIN [1]. Such systems were used until FEA took up a unified class of automation systems made under a Japanese licence [1].

The book’s chapter on computing and automation describes UNILOG differently: as a unified static switching system with germanium transistors, researched at the automation institute IPA in 1960–1965 and put into production at FEA in 1965, whose modules, and then those of the USILOG, FEA used in command, measuring and interlocking equipment [2]. The two chapters name different makers; it is unclear whether they mean the same system [2].
