Description
The Perla is a portable AM-FM transistor radio made by Electronica in Bucharest, also in a Perla CCIR version for export, with the Western FM band [1]. In 1968 Electronica exported 84,000 radios of the Perla type, in versions named Oscar, Simonetta, Major, Universum, Gold-Star and Overseas; exports rose to 250,000 radios in 1973 and stayed at that level until 1981, and the book notes that Electronica was the only East European exporter of radios to the West [1].
Export models derived from it were the Simonetta and the Universum [1].
In the source table, sensitivity is given on medium waves for 50 mW output and a 20 dB signal-to-noise ratio, selectivity for a signal ±9 kHz (AM) or ±300 kHz (FM) away, and output power at no more than 10% distortion [1].
