Description
The Rodica S 615 AB is a simple and robust tube radio receiver made by Electronica in Bucharest from 1960 for rural areas, where electricity was scarce or still being introduced; it runs either from the mains or from batteries [1]. The text calls it the Rodica S 615 B [1].
It uses miniature tubes with 1.25 V filaments; a BUB-type 90 V anode battery, or twenty 4.5 V flat batteries made at ELBA Timișoara, gave about 80–100 hours of use [1]. Output power fell as the batteries ran down, from 0.25 W with a new battery towards 50 mW, but the set kept working down to 50 V anode voltage, with excellent sensitivity on all three wavebands [1]; the annex gives 100 mW as nominal output [1].
In the source table, sensitivity is given on medium waves for 0.5 W output, selectivity for a signal ±9 kHz (AM) or ±300 kHz (FM) away, the audio frequency response at 1 MHz within 6 dB, and output power at no more than 10% distortion; the quality classes are only indicative, based on IEC recommendations and the Soviet GOST 5651/1951, as Romania had no such standard at the time [1].
