Description

The Cosmos 3 VS 59-642 is a large-screen black-and-white tube television set made by Electronica in Bucharest with kits imported from Hungary [1]. It also receives the UHF bands IV and V and uses newer tubes (PCC189, EF183, EF184, PCL86, ECH84 and a PL500 line output tube), which the book sees as proof of Tungsram’s competitiveness in Europe [1].

In 1963–1964 Electronica imported Orion kits from Hungary for large-screen sets: the Cosmos (VS 54-622), Cosmos 2 (VS 59-641) and Cosmos 3 (VS 59-642), with 18 Tungsram P-series tubes, at the technical level of Western Europe (Telefunken or Philips), and Hungarian Remix passive components [1]. The tube line-up included a PCC88 and PCF82 in the tuner, four EF80 in the common video-sound IF, a PCL84 for the video output and AGC, an EBF89 and PCF82 in the sound IF, a PCL82 for audio, an ECH81 sync separator, a PCL82 for vertical sweep, two ECC82 as line oscillator, a PCF82 with PL36 and PY88 for horizontal sweep, and a DY86 EHT rectifier; 16 filaments were connected in series [1]. See also the Cosmos and the Cosmos 2.

In the source table, video sensitivity is given for 6 V rms on the picture-tube cathode, sound sensitivity for 50 mW output, the selectivity values are, in order, the rejection of the own sound carrier, of the lower adjacent sound carrier, of the upper adjacent picture carrier, of the IF and of the image frequency, and the audio response at −3 dB [1].
