Description
The Sport 251 is a portable black-and-white television set with 5 integrated circuits, put into production by Electronica in 1979, together with the Sport 261 [1].
The chassis was designed by engineer Mircea Gavriliu, using modules from the stationary 6-IC sets; the power supply followed the transistorised Sport, with the unreliable germanium regulator transistor replaced by a silicon 2N3055, and in the line output stage the germanium AU113 and AC180 were replaced by a BU407D (later made at IPRS as the BUR607D) and an IPRS BD135, so that all active components were made in Romania [1]. Portable sets with 4, 5 or 6 integrated circuits were made, depending on the vertical sweep and sync modules; production lasted until after 1990, with real success at home and in exports to Germany and the USA [1].
