Description
The Telecolor 3007 is a colour television set made by Electronica in Bucharest with East German RFT kits, from the first series of colour sets made in Romania [1]. It differs only slightly from the Telecolor 3006 [1].
The first series, the Telecolor 3006 and 3007, had modern self-converging PIL-S4 picture tubes of 56 cm and 110°, imported from Poland (Unitra), France (Videocolor) and Japan (Toshiba), and veneered wooden cabinets made in Romania [1]. They received VHF and UHF to the OIRT and CCIR (B/G, D/K) standards, in PAL and SECAM; the colour decoder used Tesla MCA 640/650/660 circuits, equivalent to the Philips TCA 640/650/660 dual-standard series [1]. Electronica designed an interface, fitted on request by the service network, for connecting a video recorder [1].
Romania adopted the PAL colour system by political decision; since Electronica could not yet make colour sets on its own, after an offer from Körting fell through it bought kits from RFT in East Germany, a good choice: the sets were reliable and easy to make and to service [1]. Two categories were made with East German kits until after 1990, the Telecolor (56 cm) and the Cromatic (67 cm), without remote control, which mattered little given how few programmes could be received; colour monitors for computers were also built on their structure [1]. The design team was coordinated by Mihai Silișteanu, with an important role for Gunther Pflanzer [1].
