Description

The Tristar is a portable black-and-white television set made by Electronica in Bucharest for export to British firms [1].

In 1982–1987 Electronica exported portable black-and-white television sets regularly: to the Dutch firm ITC (ITC 500 T, ITC 600 T, ITC 800 T, Mentor 1200, Soundmaster), to British firms (Belmax, Cihan, Watson, Elite, Tristar, Trical, Network), to the West German firm Waltham and to France (Standard WT 412, Standard WT 612, Norfolk TK 31 and TK 44, Sinus) [1]. They were made for all the reception bands and standards then in use, including dual-standard sets, in wooden cabinets of various shades and veneers or in plastic cabinets of normal or reduced size, and obtained approvals such as UL, FCC and VDE [1]. Waltham GmbH obtained exclusive rights to sell in West Germany the television sets and other video products made by Electronica for that market [1].
