Description

The VS 43-612 is a black-and-white tube television set made by Electronica in Bucharest under a French licence [1]. It has a veneered plywood cabinet and nine manual controls: volume, tone, contrast, line and frame frequency, brightness, vertical linearity, and vertical and horizontal size [1].

Electronica started making television sets in 1961 under a licence bought from the French firm CSF; 14,000 sets were assembled in the first three models, the VS 43-611 in a metal cabinet and the VS 43-612 and VS 43-613 in wooden cabinets [1]. They were single-chassis tube sets with a turret tuner (rotactor) [1]. The laboratory and production test equipment, the TV signal station of the assembly line and some parts of the line were also bought from France under the licence [1]. The prefix VS stands for video-sunet (video-sound), while radio receivers carried the code S [1].

A version with a 54 cm, 110° picture tube was the VS 54-612 [1].

In the source table, video sensitivity is given for 6 V rms on the picture-tube cathode, sound sensitivity for 50 mW output, the selectivity values are, in order, the rejection of the own sound carrier, of the lower adjacent sound carrier, of the upper adjacent picture carrier, of the IF and of the image frequency, and the audio response at −3 dB [1].
