Description
The Micro TEST 901 is a portable functional tester for equipment based on the Intel 8080 microprocessor, made by IEMI in Bucharest [1]. It is in IEMI’s 1988 range [1].
Annex III.2.10 describes it as a dynamic functional tester that applied test stimuli through the socket of the unit’s own 8080 microprocessor, after first testing that processor, and checked the responses by program or with its signature analyser (clock up to 5 MHz); faults were traced down to a node and the faulty circuit was located with its pulser or tracer. Its basic tests covered the microprocessor, the data, address and control buses, RAM and ROM and the memory map, while user tests for a given equipment, such as serial or parallel interfaces or a floppy disk drive, were held in a 2 kB EPROM in a ZIF socket on the front panel. It was used for the final testing of 8080-based instruments and boards in production and for servicing microcomputers, displays, printers and industrial controllers, and could be operated by staff with medium-level training [2].
