Description
The N2104 is a portable vibration meter, made in the microproduction workshop of the ICE research institute in Bucharest, where it was designed [1].
ICE’s laboratory for electronic instruments for measuring non-electrical quantities designed approved prototypes for many branches of the economy: strain gauge equipment (some configurations were exported to East Germany in 1971–1974 and 1977–1989), vibration meters, dimensional gauges, ultrasonic non-destructive testers, geophysical well-logging equipment and railway equipment [1]. Its designs were made in series at IEMI (27 types) and at the Precision Mechanics Enterprise (5 types), or in ICE’s microproduction workshop (45 types) for small series and one-off models [1].
IEMI’s lists include it among the vibration meters it made [2].
ICE’s list of microproduction describes the N2103 and the portable N2104 as instruments for measuring vibration in the bearings of large rotating machines such as turbines and fans [3].
Annex III.2.11 lists it among IEMI’s products, as an electronic vibration meter with a piezoelectric accelerometer transducer, built with integrated circuits; it measured acceleration from 0.03 to 1000 m/s², velocity from 0.03 mm/s to 5 m/s and amplitude from 0.03 µm to 0.1 mm, over 2 Hz – 5 kHz, with a total error of 10% [4].
