Description
The INSTM START is a digital moving-target selection installation for radar stations, designed at the Military Technical Academy (ATM) and made at IEI; the INSTM 12, the INSTM 14, the INSTM 18 and the INSTM START were put into manufacturing preparation at IEI in 1983–1989 and made there in series of hundreds and thousands of units, many of them exported [1]. It was part of the START-1 radar: the indicator compartment of the radar’s industrial prototype II (1986) held it next to the IOC-1 indication and ICS-1 command and synchronisation installations, and a photograph shows it in the series phase in 1991 [1].
