Description
The R-4010 D is a decimetre-wave (UHF) radio relay station, made by IEI in Bucharest [1]. Although it reached the approved prototype stage and met all its specifications, it was not accepted by the army after the 1980 ban on imports, because it used an imported power transistor [1].
Its prospectus describes a duplex long-distance telephone link between isolated points and a coordinating unit, military or civilian (agriculture, forestry, drilling, geological prospecting); with the F-3031 carrier system it carried four telephone channels in the 300–16,000 Hz band, and it could be fitted in any closed vehicle [2]. It had 100 fixed frequencies in 390.6–420.3 MHz, 1.8 W (7.2 W boosted) and a range of 40 km with its dihedral antenna, 10 km on the move with a coaxial antenna and 100–120 km over a link with two relay points [2].
