Description

The HC 24.00 is a series of oil-impregnated paper capacitors for direct current, in a tubular case with a plastic sleeve and axial leads, made to STAS 7669-74 for coupling, decoupling and filter circuits [1]. The Agenda radioelectronistului (2nd edition, 1989) lists nine package codes, HC 24.16 to HC 24.55, with 0.01–0.68 µF at 400–1300 V [1].

The Agenda does not say which works made the series: for the whole section on capacitors made in Romania it lists IPEE Electroargeș of Curtea de Argeș, Tehnoton of Iași, IIS Electronica of Bucharest and IPRS Băneasa as producers, and the 1st edition (1983) names only the first three [3][4]. It was made by IPRS Băneasa, which also designed the HPA and HSA paper capacitors put into production in 1972 [5].

Coded as [3]:

Part Meaning
HC construction type (structure, use): oil-impregnated or waxed paper capacitor, for direct current
24 technological family („familia tehnologică”)
16…55 package code („codul capsulei”)

The capacitors are marked in clear with the climatic category and the other characteristics – nominal capacitance, tolerance and rated voltage; the book’s example is an HMC 33 02 marked „0,25 µF ± 20% 150 Vcc” and „10/070/74” [3].

In the 2nd edition the code of the 0.033–0.1 µF package is printed „HA 24.28”; the 1st edition has „HC 24.28”, and HA is the letter code of the paper capacitors for alternating current, so the row is listed here as HC 24.28 [1][2]. In the same row the 1st edition prints the voltage of the 0.1 µF capacitor as „4000” (2nd edition: 400) [2]. For HC 24.35 both editions give 0.47 and 0.56 µF at 1300 V – more than the 0.22 µF of the same package at 400 V; the values are kept as printed [1][2].

Rated voltages are DC („Vcc”). Dimensions in mm (fig. 20.2): D ± 0.5, L ± 1.5; leads Ø 0.8, at least 45 mm long on each side [1].
