Description

The HMZ 64.00 is a series of feed-through paper capacitors for the interference suppression of the power supplies of radio-communication equipment [1]. The Agenda radioelectronistului (2nd edition, 1989) lists two types: HMZ 64.01, 1 µF at 110 V DC or 50 V AC, in a tube with a through lead, and HMZ 64.11, 8.2 µF at 35 V DC, in a can with a mounting flange and M8 threaded ends; the 1st edition (1983) has the same data [1][2].

The Agenda does not say which works made the series: for the whole section on capacitors made in Romania it lists IPEE Electroargeș of Curtea de Argeș, Tehnoton of Iași, IIS Electronica of Bucharest and IPRS Băneasa as producers, and the 1st edition (1983) names only the first three [3][4]. It was made by IPRS Băneasa, which also designed the HPA and HSA paper capacitors put into production in 1972 [5].

Coded as [3]:

Part Meaning
HMZ construction type (structure, use): paper capacitor for interference suppression
64 technological family („familia tehnologică”)
01, 11 package code („codul capsulei”)

The capacitors are marked in clear with the climatic category and the other characteristics – nominal capacitance, tolerance and rated voltage; the book’s example is an HMC 33 02 marked „0,25 µF ± 20% 150 Vcc” and „10/070/74” [3].

Both editions print the dissipation factor as „0,15”; it is kept as printed [1][2]. In drawing b of the 2nd edition the height of the flange reads „4,8”; the 1st edition has 48 mm [1][2].

Dimensions in mm (fig. 20.14): a) tube 40 ± 1 × Ø 18 ± 0.3, through lead Ø 2, at least 60 mm long on each side; b) body Ø 40 × 70, 130 overall with the two M8 threaded ends of 30, flange 1.5 thick, 45 wide and 48 high, with two Ø 4.2 holes [1].
