Description

The HZ 94.00 is a series of multiple paper capacitors for the interference suppression of low-power electric motors, rated 250 V AC [1]. Each one holds a capacitor X between the two terminals and two capacitors Y between each terminal and the tube (ground), as the diagrams of fig. 20.12 show [1]. The Agenda radioelectronistului (2nd edition, 1989) lists four codes, HZ 94.01 to HZ 94.04; the 1st edition (1983) has the first three [1][2].

The Agenda does not say which works made the series: for the whole section on capacitors made in Romania it lists IPEE Electroargeș of Curtea de Argeș, Tehnoton of Iași, IIS Electronica of Bucharest and IPRS Băneasa as producers, and the 1st edition (1983) names only the first three [3][4]. It was made by IPRS Băneasa, which also designed the HPA and HSA paper capacitors put into production in 1972 [5].

Coded as [3]:

Part Meaning
HZ construction type (structure, use): paper capacitor for interference suppression
94 technological family („familia tehnologică”)
01…04 package code („codul capsulei”)

The capacitors are marked in clear with the climatic category and the other characteristics – nominal capacitance, tolerance and rated voltage; the book’s example is an HMC 33 02 marked „0,25 µF ± 20% 150 Vcc” and „10/070/74” [3].

The table gives each code’s drawing: a) a tube 38 mm long and 18 mm in diameter with axial leads, b) a tube 40 mm long with axial leads, which can be bent down, c) a body at most 48 mm long with three insulated wire leads 80 ± 10 mm long; HZ 94.04 has no drawing [1]. The diameter of drawing c is printed „20±15” in both editions [1][2].

Dimensions in mm (fig. 20.12): a) 38 ± 1 × Ø 18 ± 0.3, leads Ø 0.8, at least 50 mm long; b) 40 ± 1 × Ø 18 ± 0.3, leads Ø 0.8, 40 ± 5 mm long; c) max. 48 long, wire ends stripped 5 ± 3 mm [1].
