Description

The TDA440 is a linear integrated circuit for television sets (video-sound IF amplifier with synchronous video demodulator, AGC and video preamplifier), developed at IPRS Băneasa by A. Hartular and made there experimentally by 1976 [1].

From 1973, on the initiative of M. Bodea (Polytechnic Institute, Faculty of Electronics), Anton Vătășescu (technical director at IPRS) and Eugen Statnic (chief design engineer at Electronica), IPRS Băneasa began research and technological preparation of linear integrated circuits for television sets and then for radios [1]. The circuits developed and made experimentally at IPRS – TAA550, TAA661, TDA440, TDA1170 and TBA950 – were verified successfully in the “zero series” of Electronica’s integrated-circuit television sets in the spring of 1976 [1]. They were used in the Snagov, Sirius, Diamant and Lux sets with 5 or 6 integrated circuits [1].
