Description

The UNICIP βU is an uncommitted silicon array of IPRS Băneasa for linear integrated circuits; its logic counterpart was the βP1000 [1]. In 1985 IPRS developed the I2L technology and created and had approved two UNICIP structures, the βU for linear circuits and the βP 1000 for logic circuits: silicon arrays with integrated but unconnected components, stored without metallisation until a customer’s design arrived; finishing a circuit meant drawing the metallisation on the array’s charts, much like designing a single-sided printed circuit [1]. The UNICIPs shortened the response to customers and increased standardisation; IPRS built successful automotive applications and varied professional ones on them [1].
