Description
The car-radio variometer is the tuning unit made by Electronica in Bucharest for its transistor car radios: ferrite cores move along the axis inside the input, RF and oscillator coils [1]. It was fitted to the Sinaia S 693 T and its export version, the Fleet [1]; the Sinaia was the first set to use a Romanian-made variometer, which in car radios replaces the variable capacitor [2].
Its shaft turns with at most 450 gf at +25 °C and 500 gf at −25 °C; the stop withstands at least 3.5 kgf·cm; travel 4.75–14 ± 0.2 mm [1].
