Description
The R 6901 is an electronic horn, made by IEMI in Bucharest and designed at the ICE research institute in Bucharest [1]. A 1973 ministry report lists it among ICE’s research themes [2].
ICE’s radio networks laboratory (1980–1991) built radio networks for oil fields, police traffic control and the Danube–Black Sea Canal; two of its products went into production at IEMI [1].
IEMI made 50 units of its HE-1 electronic horn in 1976 [3].
Annex III.2.13 calls it HE-1 in its list and R 6901 in its description: an audible alarm for an unlimited number of monitored points, used in industrial installations to signal faults in technological processes and in the control rooms of power plants, and also usable for fire, natural disaster or burglar alarms. It gave three tones with agreed meanings – high (980 Hz), low (400 Hz) and a shrill swept tone (650 Hz ±125 Hz, swept at 2 Hz) – at no less than 80 dB at 1 m [4].
