Description

The I4701 is an ultrasonic generator, made by IEMI in Bucharest and designed at the ICE research institute in Bucharest [1]. The ICE laboratory’s table gives its code as J 4701 [1].

ICE’s laboratory for electronic instruments for measuring non-electrical quantities designed approved prototypes for many branches of the economy: strain gauge equipment (some configurations were exported to East Germany in 1971–1974 and 1977–1989), vibration meters, dimensional gauges, ultrasonic non-destructive testers, geophysical well-logging equipment and railway equipment [1]. Its designs were made in series at IEMI (27 types) and at the Precision Mechanics Enterprise (5 types), or in ICE’s microproduction workshop (45 types) for small series and one-off models [1].

It appears in IEMI’s 1988 range [2].

Annex III.2.13 says it washed and cleaned parts of 0.5–3 cm placed in its tank, through the cavitation produced in the liquid by ultrasound, which removes the film of impurities; it was used in precision mechanics and the semiconductor industry, and went into production after 1985. The tank held about 1.2 dm³, the working frequency was 20–22 kHz and the transducer received 120 VA; it could run continuously for at most 30 minutes, with pauses of at least 30 s [3].
