Description
The Elcrom 02 is a colour television set made by Electronica in Bucharest with Soviet kits, the second series of the Elcrom [1]. Its video board used the K174XA17 (TDA3501) video processor and a built-in SECAM decoder, while the PAL decoder module, with an A 3510 (TDA3510), was designed and made at Electronica [1].
Demand for colour sets was huge despite their high price, so Electronica also imported kits from the Soviet Union (Lvov) for a cheaper set with a 51 cm, 110° self-converging picture tube, sold as the Elcrom [1]. The Elcrom chassis proved robust, but the Soviet picture tubes caused problems: premature wear, spot burn and convergence errors [1].
