Description

The E0702 is a transistor meter, made by IEMI in Bucharest and designed at the ICE research institute [1].

ICE’s laboratory for electronic instruments for measuring electrical quantities designed all the institute’s generations of oscilloscopes, voltmeters, multimeters, signal generators, frequency meters, logic analysers, RLC bridges and stabilised AC power supplies; they went into production at IEMI or in ICE’s own microproduction workshop, and equipped industrial laboratories and production lines as well as teaching and research laboratories [1]. In the 1970s and 1980s about half of the components of measuring instruments were imported; after 1980 about three quarters were Romanian [1].

It is specialised for Zener diodes; an E0702 B version was also made [2]. IEMI’s production table lists 1,145 units made in 1973–1977 [2].

Annex III.2.10 describes it as an instrument for fast and precise measurement of low-power PNP and NPN transistors and of point-contact and junction Zener diodes, with quick connection of the parts under test, used in research and factory laboratories and in production. It tested transistors at collector voltages of 0.1–20 V and currents of 1–30 mA, measuring current gains (h21e) of 10–1000 with an error under 5%, and Zener diodes of 0.5–15 V [3].
