Description
The Diadin 2 is a therapy apparatus using diadynamic currents, made by Electronica in Bucharest [1]. In the 1970s, besides radios and television sets, Electronica made professional electronics (its “profile II”); for medicine it made sterilising ovens, electrocardiographs, the Diadin 2, a cardiac monitoring and stimulation unit and an electrocardioscope, to its own designs or to designs of the Electronics Research Institute (ICE) [1].
After the Electronica works were split in 1981, its production was transferred to IEI, which made it for physiotherapy [2]. The DIADIN 3, an electrotherapy device, was made at IEIA Cluj-Napoca [2].
IEI’s prospectus, which calls it M 5231 DIADIN, describes a constant-current generator for physiotherapy rooms, used for neuralgia, inflammation, post-traumatic conditions, varicose veins, migraine, spondylosis and circulatory disorders; it produces the diadynamic currents MF (single-phase fixed), DF (two-phase fixed), CP (short-period modulated), LP (long-period modulated) and RS (syncopated rhythm), built from 10 ms pulses, as well as galvanic current [3].
