Description
The R-4010 is a metre-wave radio relay station designed by ICSITA, made by IEI in Bucharest [1]. It was part of the R-4030 and R-4050 radio relay vehicles made at IEMI [1]. The UHF version, the R-4010 D, was not accepted by the army [2].
The list in section V.2.6 names Electronica as the maker of the R-4030 and R-4050 radio relay vehicles, while section V.1.4.4 names IEMI [4]. Its service channel unit was the R-4010 BCS, and it was multiplexed with the F-3031 [3].
IEI’s prospectus annex also describes, without giving its name, a metre-wave radio relay set for duplex telephone and data links, civilian or military: 161 fixed frequencies 75 kHz apart in 57.975–69.975 MHz, 3–6 W (at least 20 W with its power amplifier), four simultaneous telephone channels with a three-channel carrier system, and 40 km between stations (60 km with the amplifier), with a whip or a Yagi antenna; the book does not say whether this is the R-4010 [5].
IEMI’s table of special production lists 134 R-4030 M radio relay vehicles made in 1980–1985 and 91 R-4050 D in 1981–1985, which supports section V.1.4.3, naming IEMI as their maker [6][7]. The memoirs of an army representative at IEMI say that the R-4030 was built on a TV van and the R-4050 on a Carpați lorry chassis, both using the R-4010 made by Electronica on Baicului Road [8]. The book’s editors note that these memoirs contain some errors, especially in the names of equipment [8].
