Description
The TAA661 is a linear integrated circuit for television sets (second sound IF amplifier and FM demodulator), developed at IPRS Băneasa by Ș. Lungu and made there experimentally by 1976 [1]. It was one of the few integrated circuits available in large numbers from IPRS around 1977, and the 2-IC television sets (Snagov, Sirius, Diamant) used a TAA661B in their sound IF module [1].
From 1973, on the initiative of M. Bodea (Polytechnic Institute, Faculty of Electronics), Anton Vătășescu (technical director at IPRS) and Eugen Statnic (chief design engineer at Electronica), IPRS Băneasa began research and technological preparation of linear integrated circuits for television sets and then for radios [1]. The circuits developed and made experimentally at IPRS – TAA550, TAA661, TDA440, TDA1170 and TBA950 – were verified successfully in the “zero series” of Electronica’s integrated-circuit television sets in the spring of 1976 [1]. They were used in the Snagov, Sirius, Diamant and Lux sets with 5 or 6 integrated circuits [1].
